Malheur Butte
I took this picture of Malheur Butte in Oregon while in the field last summer. Malheur Butte was a landmark along the Oregon Trail. I really liked this picture because I caught the clouds building up behind it.
That Malheur country has a real stark, hardscrabble beauty. I always liked driving through there, but it certainly made you feel lucky to be in a car instead of a wagon!

We spent about a month or so walking across it last summer, following the transmission line right-of-way. Hot and rugged
