From Jim at Frontier Partisan. What on earth do you think the Villistas were doing with that punt gun?

  1. A big gun requires really big sombreros. I think it's a wall (or rampart) gun. They were the Barretts of the 17th and 19th Centuries. Because it has a tripod, it's the "mobile" version. They were popular in GB, Europe, and even China (Boxer Rebellion). I bet this one was a left over from Maximilian's brief reign. Very cool. There's one on the wall at Murphy's Gun Shop in Tucson.

  4. There are guys in my UK Wildfowling Club),who cockactually take to the Wash in gun punts, in the depths of UK winter, after "rafts"of wildfowl, they regulrly fail to connect, but what the heck? ! And it's DANGEROUS!
    Chacun a son gout, as they say here in Loches (in deepest, wonderful France!)
    Maybe "Vacances" should never end?
