The females predatory instincts doubled with a higher defense drive results in more serious behavior. In a pack the female will hunt and bring back food to the males in the pride. We had a male that killed all the rabbits in AZ as pup. 3 yrs later owner called and said he is over run with rabbits in his pool area.
Great pics.FoxFire Farms Dog of Legendshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06567149714418186135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-24287063322491641512010-04-17T09:43:58.430-07:002010-04-17T09:43:58.430-07:00You know, he was smaller than others, that is why ...You know, he was smaller than others, that is why he probably did not participate in those mice hunts with his littermates. It eventually became a very wet, and very dead, toy that he took a nap with later in the afternoon.

Rant is not used to tiny things - most animals he encounters are big. Although the other dogs hunt for voles in the meadow, Rant has never shown an interest in that. Instead, he hunts prairie dogs, which are the equivalent of small rodents to him (but they are about the size of a cat).Cat Urbigkithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12649103651692682453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-64220420447173992542010-04-16T22:40:39.553-07:002010-04-16T22:40:39.553-07:00Beautiful!I want to share this with Rant admirers!...Beautiful!I want to share this with Rant admirers!

BTW, our Aziats eat mice, and Rant saw it many times when he was a puppy, there are many in the woods here, perhaps he forget... with so many big animals around, sheep, elk, antelopes...

EugeneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-87088357386492742012010-04-13T06:53:58.305-07:002010-04-13T06:53:58.305-07:00Such a burden to the poor mouse, being entertainme...Such a burden to the poor mouse, being entertainment for legions of enormous cats and dogs!

Did your mouse fare better than the mice that entertain our cat?Holly Heyserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03134909592916671876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-63903885698347556802010-04-12T20:13:39.174-07:002010-04-12T20:13:39.174-07:00that is just the cutest darn series of photos and ...that is just the cutest darn series of photos and captions; they made me laugh. silly dogs! brave little mouse!EmilySnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-3674767454435510392010-04-12T06:01:04.840-07:002010-04-12T06:01:04.840-07:00Shades of Aesop's "The Mouse And The Lion...Shades of Aesop's "The Mouse And The Lion"....L.B.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8732486.post-79071498671388701702010-04-11T15:04:14.293-07:002010-04-11T15:04:14.293-07:00Aren't those St Bernards? Nikka would stand like those guys and try to step high enough so she didn't step on it, yet try to get to know it.
