"Stuff is eaten by dogs, broken by family and friends, sanded down by the wind, frozen by the mountains, lost by the prairie, burnt off by the sun, washed away by the rain. So you are left with dogs, family, friends, sun, rain, wind, prairie and mountains. What more do you want?"

Doom and Gloom
Here's a good one for falconers, hound- hunters, and, well, everyone:
"Des chiens, d'oyseaux, d'armes, d'amours,
Pour une joye, cent doleurs".
Gace de la Vigne
("In hounds, hawks, arms, and love, for every joy a hundred sorrows")

Who was it who said, "all dog stories are sad stories"?
Same feeling.
With dogs, it's that their lives are so short compared to ours, and yet we love them and they love us.
With hawks, it is that they can so easily FLY AWAY and try so hard to get killed-- especially the good ones.
I think I'll keep my mouth shut about "amours'....
Hi Stev
It's just the total, unconditional " Charitable " love commitment of a Dog which breaks your heart when they go.
A House is not a Home without a dog!
