Bird Flu and DOGS?

Give me a break!

Dog man Jan Scotland in Germany, another lover of Oriental Sighthounds, writes:

" I have just received the news that a first lure coursing in Germany (in Wismar, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania) had to be cancelled because the area has been declared a ban zone by the authorities after an infected bird was found in a harbour basin a few kilometers away - though the coursing was planned on a fenced area and the date of the event was still four weeks ahead.

"This week, after a cat infected with H5N1 was found on the island of Ruegen, the crisis management group of the German government has issued a law which obliges everybody in a 10 kilometer zone around the spot where an infected bird is found to keep cats inside *and to keep dogs on the lead* - although no case of a dog infected with H5N1 is known wordwide. The veterinary committee of the EU has meanwhile advised all member states to adopt this German law...

"If we are not very careful now, our politicians might use the bird flu to rush all those anti-dog laws through, which they have failed to impose a few years ago when the "dangerous dogs" hysteria swept over Europe. Dog owners be aware and talk to your member of parliament!"

The unholy alliances being made between Animal Rights activists, doom- mongers, hysterics, and those who just want to control everything should be of concern not just to animal lovers but to everyone who has a shred of belief in freedom. Thanks, Jan.
