Summer of the Puppies?

Libby here. It appears that this summer is going to be the "summer of the puppies". We definitely wanted Ataika and Kyran to mate, which they did; Ataika's heat must have triggered Lashyn to cycle also. Steve heard a commotion in the yard yesterday and went out to find Lashyn and Kyran "tied", as they say. The thought of two simultaneous litters of puppies in a four room house has us laughing rather hysterically. At least it will be summer so we can have them outside much of the time. With our luck this will be an exceptionally rainy summer after months of no moisture at all...let's see...with the 5 dogs we have now plus 15 puppies that would be 80 dog feet covered with mud. Our poor livers may disintegrate before it's over.

And here are a few pics of the oblivious parents- to- be.

Libby again.

The thought is a bit overwhelming -- when you think of the number of feet, it is staggering. 5 dogs already = 20, plus six puppies for Lashyn and Ataika + 48. 68 feet careening around in our house and yard. Fortunately they will be adorable and earnest as only little tazis can be.

You have come to mind as a potential owner, especially since you would get such enjoyment from working your bird with a tazi.

Hope we get to see you and Jolie again before too long --

Love from the Magdalena Tazi Breeding Station

I think I'll have to put puppies in select mail boxes some morning -- instead of pulling out a drawer to get magazines, people could be surprised by finding a puppy instead.

Hi Steve & Libby

What fantastic news!
All you need now is a couple of Omar's horses, and you could start a Tazi "Harrier" Hunting pack in Magdelena , just like we used to have in the UK , before the "Socialist" ban.
Maybe your could even build a new cottage industry around the new form of New Mexican Desert jackrabbit hunting Hunting - now there's an idea for a business!

Congratulations on your pegnancies! The pitter-patter of tiny paws around the house! I won't go into puppy poop. How are tazis to house-train?

Cool! Congrats! We've got two 4 month old saluki pups running amok at our place (not to mention the other 4 dogs). Let's see, your pups should be ready to go by the end of the summer....keep me in mind.

Paul, you were already on the list-- we just hadn't contacted you yet!

Hey, Stephen, Matt et al...

I'm overwhelmingly envious. Tazis and (desert-bred?) salukis, and I was off running around West Africa and missed it all.:(

Any chance of any of those still being around or more due this year, 2007?

John-- these are all taken but I'll put you on the list. We will probably breed NEXT year. John Burchard has a splendid Lashyn pup, Tigger, also a female brindle, and I'll want her bred too. These are all Central Asian tazis but John B may eventually cross with Saudi DB's.

Drop me an email and I'll send more pics.

Also, went to your photo page to find we are both friends of Bill Meeker! I want a Redheaded falcon eventually-- of your descent?-- and am thinking about a male Barbary Taita!

Google up "Querencia Tazi" and you should get puppy pics-- Matt and Reid both visited and posted, and I think I have too. Also "Tazis Odious and Peculiar" (my son's blog).
