Chicago, Chicago

Having banned handguns, homing pigeons, and foie gras, Chicago is now considering a ban on french fries.

Other things up for consideration are diapers for horses, uniforms for cabbies, and a law allowing only smokeless cigarettes.

On the fast food fat ban, Alderman Burke says he "... doesn't know enough about the subject to identify the specific oils he would target."

Hat tip Alphecca.

Diapers for Horses

Maybe not so unusual, if you have a team of horses pulling traditional, early 20C., recreational carriages along a busy Seafront, where families and their children have to cross the roads where the horses trot, all day long, leaving their familiar trails behind them!.

There were ongoing complaints about the mess , and potential for human health hazard , especially for children on holiday .

As it proved impractical to separate the horse routes from pedestrians, then, I believe, the local authority ( Great Yarmouth , UK) came up with a compromise of "diapers " which allow commerce to continue, without harming the locals - It seems a pretty reasonable "win - win " solution to me!

Of course, they would not be necessary "Out on the Range!".
