"Stuff is eaten by dogs, broken by family and friends, sanded down by the wind, frozen by the mountains, lost by the prairie, burnt off by the sun, washed away by the rain. So you are left with dogs, family, friends, sun, rain, wind, prairie and mountains. What more do you want?" Federico Calboli

Add Marlin Perkins' Zoo Parade and you'd have my four favorites.
Perkins is crazily connected here. In St. Louis, he was Father Anderson Bakewell's first employer (when then plain "Andy" collected snakes for him, among them Leptotyphlops bakewelli).
He then moved to Buffalo NY, where he was close friends with my first wife's parents.
He was the mentor to Jim Fowler, fellow Explorers' club fellow, whom I met at the annual banquet in NY, carrying an eagle.
Everybody knows everybody.
