"Stuff is eaten by dogs, broken by family and friends, sanded down by the wind, frozen by the mountains, lost by the prairie, burnt off by the sun, washed away by the rain. So you are left with dogs, family, friends, sun, rain, wind, prairie and mountains. What more do you want?"

Rattlers
A Texas man spent 45 minutes in a tub with 87 rattlesnakes to set a world record. Oh, and he wasn't bitten. The article says he set another record last year by holding 10 rattlesnakes by their tails in his mouth. What a fun hobby.
So there was a previous world record for sitting in a tub full of rattlesnakes...? Like the last guy only had 86 rattlesnakes or something? And people say falconers are weird...:-)
Although the BBC does not go into these factors, I would say that along with "holding still," Mr. Bibby might have (1) seen to it that the rattlesnakes had full bellies and (2) kept the ambient temperature on the low side.
I've not posted a comment for a while, and even though I don't like to make value judgments about fellow inhabitants of the alternative life style, I've got to say that I never fail to be amazed by the things that interest my "grown up" male friends.
Frankly, I'd have thought that the Small Tribe here would have been all agog over the latest installment of Anthony Bourdain's show which feautured his travels in Russia. Best part was mushroom hunting with a former KGB agent. The guy and his wife (also former KBG) live in an about-to-be trendy rural area three hours from Moscow and they had a little Pug dog which they both adore.
No mention of rattlesnakes at all in this segment ... just good cooking and table conversation. Makes a bathtub full of rattlers seem sort of gauche', even by Russian standards! :)

Oh yeah! Held by the same guy. The old record was only 75 snakes

Lady with the black dogs .....
Yes, Lady with the BD, I saw that episode. It was a good one. Apparently Bourdain has a book coming out based on his show.
Chas - I agree, one of my first thoughts was that a nice, cool tub would be the prudent course
