Don't Mess with Kingbirds
Today's Denver Post had this great pic of a Western Kingbird harrassing a Red-tailed Hawk that I just had to pass on.
Change that hawk to a barn owl, and you have a similar image that will forever remain in my memory. Circa 1965 at Mercy Hot Springs, San Benito County, California. An awesome thing to see (and I don't use that bastardized word very often). Thanks.
A lot of non-birders see this sort of thing and think the "mommy bird" or "daddy bird" (the hawk) is giving flying lessons to the "baby bird" (kingbird). But if anyone's getting schooled...
