Q o' D: Barbarians

We sit by and watch the Barbarian, we tolerate him; in the long stretches of peace we are not afraid. We are tickled by his irreverence, his comic inversion of our old certitudes and our fixed creeds refreshes us; we laugh. But as we laugh we are watched by large and awful faces from beyond: and on these faces there is no smile.

Are you psyching yourself up for the upcoming release(later in August) of the NEW "Conan The Barbarian" movie? I am, fer sure--reread all the original Robert Howard stories, which this movie is supposedley(I am hoping) going to honor(though I have to admit, I also enjoyed the Arnie versions--BEST movie soundtrack ever, in those movies hands-down, in my opinion!) A favorite quote of mine is from the original Howard Conan story "Tower Of The Elephant"--"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages, because they can be impolite without getting their skulls split, as a general thing."....L.B.
