Beautiful dogs!

Are they tazis or COO salukis?

(Not much of a difference, I know)

Definitional blur.

Linguistically the names refer simply to the Arabic- Turkic east west divide. "Tribally" or regionally, they are Kazakh (Riss) and (Tavi), Kaz X Russian, I think Petrograd.

Which makes them "definitionally" tazis, and BY ALL SANE STANDARDS (which mean nothing) COO salukis as well.

Set "saluki"-- arguably not the best term, as narrowly Arabic, but in use earlier in our culture-- should because of that hisory embrace set "tazi".

OR: all tazis are salukis. Not all salukis are tazis...

Riss & Tavi are very beautiful, and appreciate one another as well. Are they from the same household? And who shares their house with them ... I had not thought to think Tazi or Coo Saluki ... I need to look again.

Scottie, Tavi is Nazgul's brother from another litter.

Saluki, Tazi, local names, local morphology, variations on a theme.

No matter the singer, the *song* remains the same.
