People have been talking about this for years, and now it appears someone is actually going to do it: Russian and Korean Researchers Will Inject Mammoth DNA into Elephant Eggs, Resurrecting 10,000 Year-old Beast.

Hi Reid! As I understand the "down-low" I've been hearing, the lead Korean scientist is going to be Hwang Woo-Suk, the scientist who was first to successfully clone a dog. The dog, an Afghan Hound, was bred and sold to Korea by an American breeder who I know personally.

Do they have enough DNA diversity for an eventual re-establishment? And what about predators? I think we need some sabertooth cats, cave lions, and dire wolves to come along, too!
