Quote

There'll be no editing. This book was dictated by the Holy Ghost.

- Jack Kerouac, upon being told his manuscript of On the Road (typed onto a 120 ft. roll of teletype paper) would need to be cut into pages for editing.

First read it aged 14 while in the reform school. A truly inspirational book which put me 'on the road' to many other great books. I was years later that I learned about the method of it's writing.

Believe it was a Paris Review interview where Malcolm Cowley said he helped edit the book multiple times despite the hype and myth surrounding Kerouac's methods.
