What is this? I do not mean '95 Winchester; I will take it my readers know that-- but what
caliber? Hint: more were made in it than all the others combined. Where are they now?

It appears to be a military musket version,. I will guess the caliber is 30-06, 30-40 Krag or 303 Brit.
The post-military stories about those rifles are... interesting.
And I don't mean the ones manufactured for civilian markets.
