Trilobites

In addition to this awesome picture of a fossil from Morrocco, today's New York Times has an article about the life and times of trilobites that I certainly learned a lot from. As I was reading it I found I had assumed I knew much more about them than I really did. And as the title says, they did rule the world for 300 million years.

I've been looking for them around here, where we have lots of Cambrian strata, but no luck so far.

The first photo is amazing. But more amazing is the time, talent and patience it had to take in removing it from whatever it was imbedded without damaging the fragile parts. Any idea how this was done? Gil

I don't, and would like to know, as well. I don't know how you could do that by hand - maybe some sort of chemical process?

Article mentions they are the "state fossil" in Ohio. When we lived there we used to see trilobite fossils occasionally in the limestones around Cincinnati.

Hi,

I have saved this article so I could come back in the future and go through it once more. It is very intriguing, well-researched and also composed. I almost never observe marvelous content these days. for more information about tooth, then try Dinosaur Tooth for Sale

Have a nice day...!!
