The Second Coop

We knew there was a second, a female, around. Yesterday she showed up, big as life (or bigger-- at 16'9 oz she was the biggest Coop I ever weighed). Luckily she was quick to catch, by one toe and a primary feather, though she somehow got them on two sides of a beanpole! Phone cam pix by Daniela Imre...

Congrats on catching the second sky shark! What breed is the bait pigeon? I hope she doesn't suffer from PTSD after the ordeal. Don't know how many of your readers are die-hard pigeon enthusiasts, but I for sure would love to read more about your breeding programs! From reading some of your earlier posts, I've learned you pretty unique genetic strains.

The bird is nothing special-- half white homer (racer who strayed in from a race to a friend's ranch, on a feral hen.But she is pretty and outcrosses can be useful. You may know I also have English Carriers, Pouters (about 90% Rafeno, some looking very pure, but MUCH hardier and more prolific because of an old homer cross, a few old fashioned "Bagdads"and a couple of beauty homers. I used to have Turkish breeds and some owls etc too. Not as many as I used to in have- age and ill health take their toll.

Until cockfighting was banned in NM (a mere decade ago) this town was a hotbed of Old English game breeders, and many of my friends fought them( There is a bit about fighting cocks in in Querencia).I have always been fascinated with the attitude and appearance of Asian game, even grotesque dinos like the Shamo. My email is "ebodio-at- gilanet- dot- com"-- send me some pics and I;ll send you some.

Thanks for the feed-back! Very sorry about the delay! I'm new at this whole socioal media thing. I have been following your blog passively on and off over the years, and have found it very entertaining and interesting. I think I have read all your posts on gamefowl and pigeons. I have also read excerpts of your books on Google Books, and would certainly like to buy some of them. I'm now in the process of learning how to use Paygoo. I was unable to post comments on your blog before I got the Google Plus profile, so my comments didn't get through to you, I guess. I'll send you an e-mail with some pictures today. If you don't get it, please let me know. You'll find my e-mail on my Google Plus profile.

Also, thanks for the opportunity to comment on your posts!
