Doom and Gloom

Another in the continuing series.

"Of course, the end of the world has been promised by Jews, Christians, Muslims and assorted crazies with sandwich boards for as long as there has been a human world to end. But those doomsdays were the product of faith; reason always used to say the world will continue. The point about the new apocalypse is that this situation has reversed. Now faith tells us we will be able to solve our problems; reason says we have no answers now and none are likely in the future. Perhaps we can't cure cancer because the problem is simply beyond our intellects. Perhaps we haven't flown to the stars because our biology and God's physics mean we never can. Perhaps we are close to the limit and the time of plenty is over."

No Ray Kurzweil, he.

I think that what man needs is to get his act together. Under the staus quo, so to speak, there is no answer, seemingly so. I do think that man can, and will, see the writting on the wall and do the adjusting needed to avoid the doom and gloom.
Yes there is cause for concern. Thanks to the writting you cite, and much more, the wake up call is going out. There is much reason for hope too. What man needs to do is to buy the time to do the fixing ahead of the loss of oil, the peak in oil availability to the market.

Man can, and he needs to hear that - as opposed to being told he can not. Fear is causitive. I am doing what I can to remove the fear - and shine hope.

What we should be looking at is the life STYLE of the 30's with the technology of the 21st century!

Not in my opinion. There is PLENTY. There is plenty of everything but oil! So we get around that with something else that is in plentiful supply - HUMAN INGENUITY! (as well as some resources)
