History's Ironies 2

In Nigeria, white farmers driven from their land in Zimbabwe, and their modern methods, are being welcomed with open arms. One can only hope it will stay that way.

Indeed, it reminds me of the 1600's when Louis XIV drove the Huguenots from France in an attempt to increase his power base through French religious homogeny. A few went to Canada, and a few went other places, but by and large they took their wealth and know-how to the Netherlands, France's arch rival at the time. It's almost enough to make someone believe in Karma.

Of course, nobody with objective information and in their right mind would ever think of calling Mugabe the "Sun King" or even the "Sun Strongman". Compared to his recent demolition of slums in Harare, complete destruction of Zimbabwe's once proud economy, and the far-too-little-known events of Gukurahundi(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gukurahundi), distributing white-owned lands to his cronies (which is indeed where the lands went after government "redistribution") seems the least of his crimes.
