"A Kind of Paganism"

.... is how the pope's astronomer thinks of creationism.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that... " (Hi Chas).

"He described creationism, whose supporters want it taught in schools alongside evolution, as a "kind of paganism" because it harked back to the days of "nature gods" who were responsible for natural events."

Let me light some sage - I'll put this idea into the smoke and tell you what I decide. But, the tickle in my ear already says that the Pope's astronomer doesn't know that a "Pagan" is no doubt a better astronomer than he even dreams of being.

I love this guy. I love that he's an astronomer not an astrologer (if only he'd been around for Copernicus and Galileo!), and then I love the way he thinks, and then I love that the story is in the Scotsman.
