A Knife review

At Overland Expo, Jonathan Hanson reviews a useful but elegant minimalist "NON- tactical" knife. After giving some technical specs he says:

"You’re at an upscale restaurant with several acquaintances. The filet mignon you ordered has arrived, but the knife provided is either woefully inadequate or one of those coarsely oversized serrated saws. You produce the 37G from the inside pocket of your sport coat, open it with a deft twist, and slice away. Around you, conversation stops as everyone stares at the elegant blade, then demands to see it. Across the table, the guy who showed up in shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops, who was already squirming under your tolerant but dismissive glances, is instantly, totally emasculated, and says not another word about his new quad the entire night. In fact he skips dessert and leaves early."

... and that is not all we agree on...

I responded in email: "Here is my equivalent, my favorite "good" knife. This one is a using- grade custom, a David Boyes/ Francine etching minimalist job I have had for years, since reading a review of a similar one by Stewart Brand. It is pretty but utterly utilitarian. So far I have never needed more handle though you could retrofit one. It has a nylon two way belt sheath with a copper liner, 3" blade, and is 6 1/2 overall.

Finally: just happened to have this photo of a few pretty ones handy, including a Skaggs boot dagger and a Callahan knapped skinner. The tooth is unusual.
