Range Session, Magdalena

"Guns that work", to paraphrase  Guy Clark....

Best quality Scott game 12 bore ca. 1918, waiting for the clay bird...
Smith .44 "Mountain gun". The trigger worked fine.
And no grief for the Brit shooting cap please! 40 mph gusts precluded no hat, and I have never been able to reconcile shotgunning with my usual cowboy hats. See also Hemingway hunting birds in Idaho for style inspiration,  if needed. (Hat from  "Johnny UK",  an honorary New Mexican).

Good to see at least one other "adopted" New Mexican properly dressed for the field!( Don't you know )

I think you look very fine in that ensemble, Steve--Elmer, though, might be choking on his cigar even now!

Worse for Elmer-- I also have a Jack O'Connor hat, though made by Lobb's in England rather than Borsalino.

Anyway, my "regular" hat is a down- home Resistol with a Montana horsehair band. Maybe I should do a hat post...

Steve, try elevating the muzzle slightly at the ready position so your eyes see the target beyond it, then mount and shoot. (A tip from a London shooting school instructor.) Even if you don't hit it, you'll look good.

Best,
Gerry

Dashing head gear. A fellow shooting a fine double like that could wear a dunce cap and get away with it, especially if he has a 44. to back it up.
